I must have misheard you when you said I was artistic Did you mean it as a compliment when you said that you'd never met someone like me? It's just that the way you smiled could be read as derogative I'd like to think that I can tell when someone's saying something that they do not mean But when you start talking with your eyes, I find it's not a language that I speak Long ago, philosophers would wonder at the ocean: Is there anything that can exist if it cannot be measured with infinity? Why do we know beauty, or take time to travel somewhere? Are there kinds of loving things inside the planets and the carpets and the trees? And what color is the sun? We draw it yellow, but I think it might be green. I must have misheard you when you said I was artistic Did you mean it as a compliment when you said that you can't believe my honesty? Truth be told, I'm holding back on so much commentation I'm aware enough to know that everybody isn't interested in questions like these. But what color is the sun? We draw it yellow, but I think it might be green.

I know a boy from Outer Space I catch his signals He likes my face And then he makes me so confused I bet you know a boy from Outer Space too Cause I'd be sitting and staring and talking to the ceiling Trying to understand When he is showing me symbols To tell me how he's feeling I can't parse the message from the stars From that boy in Outer Space I'm hearing something That I can't place Because he makes me so confused He thinks that I'm from Outer Space too

The Woodpecker said to The Maple: "You're sweeter than any I've seen" But he left her be-holed and be-lonelied And said he was tired of that tree La da dy (etc) His wife in her branches was nestled The kids having all flown away So they packed up their things and departed, And she cried sugar tears that day La da dy (etc) You can find rocks that lie in a circle But you're better off putting them there And you shouldn't go blaming The Maple For it isn't her fault that she cared La da dy (etc)

I will not stop lovin you until you stop lovin me I will not take you for granted 'less for granted's where you take me If you ever start to wonder if my feelings aren't true, Just decide if you love me, and then you'll know if I love you I can't guarantee that I will love you all my life Even if you are my husband Even if you are my wife But as long as lovin me is something you still do Darlin, I would not stop lovin you I will not stop lovin you until you stop lovin me I will not take you for granted 'less for granted's where you take me If you ever start to wonder if my feelings aren't true, Just decide if you love me, and then you'll know if I love you

Once upon a mountaintop, there lived a dragon green He hid behind the rocks, so he was hardly ever seen Tales were bore in days of yore that he was cruel and mean, So he believed them In the night he'd take the farmer's cattle and his sheep And thought it was the kind of thing an evil dragon keeps But he would let them go before the stars had gone to sleep He didn't eat them And I say Oh my lonely dragon friend You needn't hide away and pretend you aren't sweet If you would just come down you'd show the town They needn't fear the dragon green Now and then, a knight in shining armor came to say, "I've come for you, O Dragon!" But they never tried to stay When bouts of blue and yellow fire crackled on display He had to scare them Then one day came came climbing up a farmer, hardly brave She said to him: "O Dragon, in your dark and dismal cave My only brother's stranded" but the dragon turned away, He didn't care then But when he beheld the crystal tears in her eyes At thinking of her only brother starved until he died Because he'd climbed and climbed until he'd gone up far too high and caused a cave-in The dragon green stretched out his wings and went into the sky To reach the places you can only grace when you can fly He found the stranded brother, badly bruised but still alive And then he saved him And she said Oh my lonely dragon friend You needn't hide away and pretend you aren't sweet If you would just come down you'd show the town They needn't fear the dragon green Once inside a mountaintop there lived a dragon green He lived behind the rocks, so he was hardly ever seen Tales were bore, but he was more than what a dragon seems So don't believe them Oh my lonely dragon friend You needn't hide away and pretend you aren't sweet If you would just come down you'd show the town They needn't fear the dragon green Oh my lonely dragon friend You needn't hide away and pretend you aren't sweet If you would just come down you'd show the town They needn't fear the dragon green

[humming] Maybe time just isn't something you can bottle in your basement Like the wine, or jars of peaches, or your Christmas decorations

(one-two-three-four) Thursday. What's the matter with a Thursday? Used to think it was the worst day Nothing happens on a Thursday, Friday follow Sunday, it's all said and it's all done day Much prefer the coming Monday Hello Tuesday, too You're yellow and a Monday's blue Saturday might have her charms Hold you tightly in her arms Turn around and then she's gone it's true And I don't know why I like green Or why I like the number three But Wednesday's green And Wednesday, I like you. Tuesday, my heart's broken on a Tuesday Every day's a no-good-news day But the sun sets on a Tuesday, Wednesday follow My day! You can keep your favorite Friday I like triangles and sky days Hello Thursday, too You're one day that is also blue Sunday you can take your rest People might like Sunday best For me, it's just a day that I sleep through And I don't know why I like green Or why I like the number three But Wednesday's green And Wednesday, I like you. Saturday might have her charms Hold you tightly in her arms Turn around and then she's gone it's true And I don't know why I like green Or why I like the number three But Wednesday's green, And Wednesday, I like you. And I don't know why I like green Or why I like the number three But Wednesday's green And Wednesday, I like you.

Captain Tuesday waits on the dock for his ship to come He knows that it's coming any day now Two seagulls fly by and try to steal his jacket Two seagulls get scared because they didn't know who he was When he turned around, they flew away, because You don't mess with Captain Tuesday Lola my love, I'm on my way Just a few more days before I'm on the shore and I am yours It's what I dream of Lola my love, keep me around And if you've found some other boy I wish you joy And I'd never want to see you again But, Lola, my love, I'm on my way Just a few more days before I'm on the shore and I am yours It's what I dream of Come pretty girls and dance to my song Hey la, hey la-ya And if your lad won't dance along, Don't let him hold you back Just find another lass Hey la, hey ya-la-ya Go in a circle, one, two, three Hey la, hey la-ya Save a little kiss on the cheek for me And if your lad gets sore, I'll give it back once more Hey la, hey ya-la-ya Come pretty ones and dance my way Hey la, hey la-ya And if your lad thinks that you've strayed I'll take him for a whirl, He'll want to be my girl Hey la, hey ya-la-ya Come pretty girls and dance to my song Hey la, hey la-ya And if your lad won't dance along, Don't let him hold you back Just find another lass Hey la, hey ya-la-ya Captain Tuesday waits on the dock for his ship to come He can't go to sleep because it's day now Two more years go by, and still he stands there waiting Two more years go by, but he can't give up looking yet He knows that it's coming any day now so he stays. Maybe tomorrow, Captain Tuesday

I woke up in a bus headed out of Ohio I'm not sure where I wanna go A million cornstalks wave at me I'd wave back, but they can't see. The other passengers are all captured in their own fantasies And each with their thoughts that I'll never get to read If I wanted to come home today, I would have taken the train Monday Morning How did I get so far from dreams I used to have where I was a king And I was a queen? Now my castle's full of dragons and thieves I'm on my journey, and I'm in no hurry So you'll never catch me Stopped for a walk in a park somewhere in New Jersey I don't know where that could be I never found the water tower with the county's name I won't go back again to most places They'll forget my face and won't write a letter But I wouldn't miss them If I get to see you twice, I look forward to a third time Monday Morning How did I get so far from dreams I used to have where I was a king And I was a queen? Now my castle's full of dragons and thieves I'm on my journey, and I'm in no hurry So you'll never catch me Monday Morning How did I get so far from dreams I used to have where I was a king And I was a queen? Now my castle's full of dragons and thieves I'm on my journey, and I'm in no hurry So you'll never catch me Monday Morning How did I get so far from dreams I used to have where I was a king And I was a queen? Chessman 02:38
Chessman, I don't think like you Don't plan my future like you do Chessman, let's get one thing straight I won't be your checkmate If you say "let's play a game" And I say that "I love a game" But you set down the 8-by-8 I'm not quite so inclined You take my pawn, you take my knight I take your pawn, you take my knight I take your rook, you win again And think it's 'cause of your big mind Either way, we're sore. Baby, I am getting bored. Chessman, I don't think like you Don't plan my future like you do Chessman, let's get one thing straight I won't be your checkmate Maybe I'll give chess a chance And maybe I'll give you a chance But I'd much rather go and dance And move myself instead Cause you can't see the game ain't fair And want to think the game is fair Cause then you beat me on the merit Of your mathematic head But that's not for me I don't subscribe to binary Chessman, I don't think like you Don't plan my future like you do Chessman, let's get one thing straight I won't be your checkmate Chessman, I don't think like you Don't plan my future like you do Chessman, let's get one thing straight I won't be your checkmate Chessman, I don't think like you Don't plan my future like you do Chessman, let's get one thing straight I won't be your checkmate I won't be your checkmate I won't be your checkmate

And it isn't that you never asked me about what I like, It's not your fault I wasn't there And it isn't that you sent me alien symbols that I struggled to decode So I guess you should know that It's so much easier for me to say goodbye Before things have the chance to go wrong And baby, I don't like the taste of your name in my love song I apologize if I was too mean when I shoved you out Of holding me close the other night And it isn't that I wanted to be cold and alone But somehow, your arms just weren't right And I find it So much easier for me to say goodbye Before things have the chance to go wrong And baby, I don't like the taste of your name in my love song I thought I was calling you to me, but I'm A little slow to pick up So instead of dialing again, I wipe my hands and say I'm done And it isn't that you never gave me the thing that I looked for It's not your fault it isn't there And it isn't that I've done this song and dance before A thousand times or so And now I know that It's so much easier for me to say goodbye Before things have the chance to go wrong And baby, I don't like the taste of your name in my love song I find it so much easier for me to say goodbye Before things have the chance to go wrong And baby, I don't like the taste of your name in my love song

Buckeye Jim 02:19
Way up yonder above the sky A bluebird lived in a jay-bird's eye Buckeye Jim, you can't go Go weave and spin, you can't go Buckeye Jim Way up yonder above the moon A blue jay nests in a silver spoon Buckeye Jim, you can't go Go weave and spin, you can't go Buckeye Jim Way down yonder by a wooden trough An old woman died of the whoopin cough Buckeye Jim, you can't go Go weave and spin, you can't go Buckeye Jim Way down yonder in a hollow log A red bird danced with a green bullfrog Buckeye Jim, you can't go Go weave and spin, you can't go Buckeye Jim Way up yonder above the sky A bluebird lived in a jay-bird's eye Buckeye Jim, you can't go Go weave and spin, you can't go Buckeye Jim

about

As close as I can get to you sitting across from me as I play my music like I do nearly every day. Green because it's green. I looked back on when I wrote some of these songs and it was way more recently than I thought...
